The Adventures of Super Normal Girl turned 10 years old earlier this year, and has moved around countless platforms and went through a few content branding transformations along the way.

And why not? I was a single mom to a grade-schooler when I first started, and now I am (still) a single mom to a fine young professional.

I was a daughter to a high spirited 60-something mother, when now I am a daughter to a slower, but still spirited, 78-year old.

I was a young (ok, young-ish) professional, more focused on balancing a career and motherhood back then. Now, I just love what I’m doing. I have decided on having things go the way I want them to go: having time for work but not necessarily having less time for me. So far, I think I have made the right decision. (fingers crossed)

Anyway, my real concern is this: Are people still reading blogs?

I am reluctant to answer that question myself.

We all know that people find videos, maybe, more desirable than words on a page. I admit there are days, and topics, when I’d rather watch something than read about.

So, should we stop writing and try our hand with making videos?

I can’t say I have no interest in it. I have always liked taking photos and videos, just not of me. Oftentimes, I am out of the picture, and I mean that in the literal sense; however, needless to say, much as I enjoy taking pictures, I do not enjoy looking at myself too much. I guess that’s a big enough reason not to vlog.

Still, I hope that people do not want to stop reading, no matter if it’s this blog, or books, or other things. Reading has always given me comfort and solace, peace and quiet. It was my retreat when the world around me became too noisy. It has fueled my imagination, and wrought for me images that, sometimes, no video can equal. It has been my helper in building in my child creativity and a good, solid vocabulary. I don’t think I can abandon reading now.

Sticking to blogs, for now, then.

Enjoy reading!
